francis bacon

 i really have been enjoying francis bacon recently and his completely abstract style of art. i would really like to go in directions as extreme as these on some pieces this trimester 

 another interesting image. it seems to have a darker side to it so i would like to incorporate some sort of literal emotion into my sculptures

JOSEPH cornell

Joseph Cornell

Jospeh cornell was an artist/filmmaker with no real experience or training. his most famous pieces of art are boxes with odd photographs and objects arranged in strange ways. His use of surrealism and constructivism in these boxes will lead to be called assemblages.
 here are some of his assemblages:

I like this mask a lot. I like the simplicity of it but also the way it makes me question this type of animal greatly. its nice that the artist who made this, made this so similar to the actual thing but it feels and looks completely different i think.
Here is another mask i find interesting. I like that it is not completely symmetrical like a lot of masks you usually see. I like that it also has a folded type quality like a fan.

Weird Paper Sculpture

Many people use different techniques when sculpting with paper such as rolling, cutting, folding etc.
You can really make a lot of things with paper. I didn't realize that until now.
